Sylvester Rychly

Sylvester "Sy" Rychly, age 92, passed away on January 19, 2026, at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Born on November 30, 1933, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Sy was the beloved son of John Ivan Rychly and Tekla Bavorovska Rychly.

Sy married the love of his life, Delores "Dee" Rychly, and together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to his two children, Sandra Kay Rychly and Ronald Sylvester Rychly.

Sy spent his career as a Coil Winding Technician at Electric Machinery, where he was known for his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic. Prior to his civilian career, Sy honorably served his country. He was a member of the U.S. military from 1954 through 1955, spending much of his service in Korea from March 1954 to December 1955.

Outside of work, Sy was a man of many passions. He loved fishing, gardening, and picking wild mushrooms. He also enjoyed the excitement of casino gambling. Above all, Sy cherished his time at the family cabin on Little Pine Lake in Aitkin, Minnesota-a place where he found peace, joy, and countless memories with friends and family.

Sy was known for his outgoing nature and was blessed with many cherished friendships and close-knit relatives. His warmth, humor, and generous spirit made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed - especially by his wife, Dee, who lovingly stood by his side for nearly seven decades.

A memorial service will be held on March 14th, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Boulevard, Coon Rapids, Minnesota, with a visitation 1/2 hour before the sevice. A lunch gathering will follow at the Coon Rapids VFW Post 9625, located at 1919 Coon Rapids Boulevard.

Sy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Coon Rapids Fire Department.
