jUDITH LANDOWSKI Obituary

JUDITH ELAINE (MESSERSCHMIDT) LANDOWSKI Judith Elaine (Messerschmidt) Landowski of Ramsey MN, 84, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on February 13, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 28, 1941 in International Falls, MN to George and Helen (Zavoral) Messerschmidt. Judy lived her life dedicated to her family, her love of travel, putzing around the house, going to the casino, playing cards, finishing puzzles, and her beautiful yard. Judy attended Falls High School and graduated in 1959. After graduation, she attended beauty school in Thief River Falls, MN and obtained a beautician license. Shortly after finishing school, she moved to St. Paul and worked in a beauty shop. While on a visit back to Thief River Falls, in July 1961, she met the love of her life, Thomas Garald Landowski. They were married on October 20, 1962. They raised three children Holly, Lori, and Steven, in Andover, Minnesota before moving to Ramsey, Minnesota. After raising her children, she worked at Lake Air Metals for a short period of time and then left that job to start Sleep Easy Mattress in 1979 with Tom in the garage of their home in Andover. The business was successful and they moved the business to North East Minneapolis where she sewed mattress, boxspring, and futon covers and kept the books. After 7 years, Tom and Judy sold Sleep Easy Mattress, but stayed in the furniture business owning furniture stores in Ramsey, Ham Lake, and Coon Rapids. Judy loved to take care of her house and yard, especially her plants, flowers, bushes, and a very large vegetable garden. She loved to feed and watch birds and to pound on the windows when any squirrels showed up. She also loved to cook and bake. Her specialties were Tom's favorite homemade breads, buns, cookies and his special beans. Over the years, she also liked to go on short or long drives, fish, read books, do a daily crossword puzzle and watch Wheel of Fortune, Days of our Lives, Survivor, The Voice, and the Amazing Race. Judy and Tom would spend their winter months, after retirement, going to Las Vegas to watch the Superbowl and continuing on to Arizona where they would meet up with relatives and friends for numerous games of cards and adventures. Before cancer, Judy never let an illness stop her from doing anything. Whether it be a heart attack or fracturing her hip. She would quickly bounce back. We attribute that to her being a redheaded spit fire that never knew when to stop! She loved her family and they will always love and miss her. She is survived by her beloved husband Tom of 63 years, daughters Holly (Stephen) Gardner, Maple Grove, MN; Lorilei (Todd) Belden, Ramsey, MN, son Steven, Ramsey, MN, grandchildren Kayla, Zachary, Kyle and Austin, 2 great-grandchildren Everett and Aidyn, her brother Rick Messerschmidt, sister-in-law Kathy Messerschmidt, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the family cat Meeko. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gordon and Dennis and by many dogs and cats. We want to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Allina Hospice & Palliative for the care they gave her. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21st at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel in Coon Rapids MN at 11 AM with a review one hour prior. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Anoka, MN followed by lunch at the Coon Rapids VFW at 1pm.
