Dominic Landowski Obituary

Visit the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory website to view the full obituary.

Dominic Landowski was born on December 20, 1931, in Sherburne County to Frank and Clara (Novak) Landowski. He was the 6th of 7 children and after the death of his mother at a young age, he and his younger sister lived at the St Cloud Children’s home for several years. During his time there, he made lifelong connections, and his Catholic faith became his foundation. He spent the later part of his teenage years living with the Forster family and would buy a farm that he would spend the rest of his life on. He married Mary Scott at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in rural Sauk Rapids MN on October 20, 1966. He retired from 3M in Alexandria in 1992 after 23 years.

Dominic loved farming, talking about farming with anyone, and working on the land that he loved. He had a green thumb and spent hours and hours every summer in his garden and harvesting the bounty. He loved tractors and going to auctions. He manicured the woods on the farm by harvesting 1000’s of cords of firewood to sell and to heat the family home. He was a good and diligent servant of the land he owned. There were no strangers in Dominic’s life, just friends he hadn’t met yet. In his retirement, he and Mary enjoyed many trips together to Branson, the east coast, The Smokey mountains and Texas. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Lake of the Woods and his annual buddy’s trip to Lake Reno. He was always up for an adventure. Dominic installed a love of hunting in his family. He was always up for going for a walk to get some squirrels or just spending time in the woods. His kids, and most of his grandkids, had the joy of spending time with him in the deer stand. His chatting and jokes made wonderful memories for those lucky enough to hunt with him. And no hunting excursion or family gathering were complete without a shooter of Fireball. Dominic was a kind, gentle and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and in recent years, a great grandfather. He was a devout and loyal catholic and parishioner of St. Nicholas Catholic Church where he ushered for decades and served on the council.

Dominic is proceeded in death by his parents, sisters Pauline (Detloff), Lillian (Maciaszek), brothers Steven and Anthony. Also, Micheal, Myrtle and Greg Forster. He is survived by Mary, his adoring wife of 59 years and children Kathy (Lynn) Koester, Karen (Tim) Wibstad, Kurt Landowski and Kristi (Jay) Ritter; grandchildren Cameron Koester, Benjamin Koester, Devin (Kali) Wibstad, Darrin (Kendra) Wibstad, Trent Landowski, Lauren Landowski, Sheyenne Ritter (Jarrett Kuhnen), Slade Ritter and great grandchildren Roman Kuhnen and Aurora Wibstad. Siblings Irene Gray, Rosemarie Pfaff, Tom Toenjes, Bruce Forster and Gladys Trosvig.

Doninic Landowski, died at his home under the care of Vivie Hospice on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the age of 93 years old.  A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a 4 PM Parish Prayer Service at the Anderson Funeral Home. The visitation will continue on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at St. Nicholas Cemetery.  Casket Bearers are Cameron Koester, Benjamin Koester, Sheyenne Ritter, Slade Ritter, Devin Wibstad, Darrin Wibstad, Trent Landowski, and Lauren Landowski.  Honorary Casket Bearers are Roman Kuhnen and Aurora Wibstad.
