Judith "Judy" Kay Fields

Judith "Judy" Kay Fields, born on November 6, 1948, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Wayne Eugene and Dawn Noreen (Klein) Wright, passed away on August 22, 2025, at The Waters of Wabash West in Wabash, Indiana. Judy's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, vibrant spirit, and generous heart.

A proud graduate of Hobart High School in 1966, Judy furthered her education by obtaining a degree in Business Administration from Ivy Tech. Her professional journey was diverse and fulfilling; she dedicated ten years as a Dispatcher for a trucking company, lent her organizational skills to Cardinal Services, and served as the church secretary at Sweetwater Assembly of God. Judy's passion for education led her to work as a substitute teacher at Manchester Community Schools for five years.

Judy was united in marriage to Charles R. Fields Sr. on December 31, 1971. Their journey together was filled with love until his passing on July 21, 2001.

Judy's creativity was boundless; she was not only a talented baker and cake decorator but also expressed her artistic flair through painting and sewing. Among her proudest achievements was the creation of her daughters’ wedding and bridesmaid dresses, showcasing her loving dedication to her family.

Her faith played a central role in Judy's life. As a devoted member of the Christian Fellowship Church in North Manchester, she taught Sunday school and was involved in a clown ministry, bringing joy and smiles to countless children. Judy was known for her big heart, always willing to give to others even in times of personal struggle, firmly believing that "God would take care of her." She also had a unique practice of writing to every President since Carter, offering her prayers and support.

The loving memory of Judy Fields will be forever cherished by her sons, Charles R. Fields Jr., Fort Wayne, Keith (Melissa) Fields, Pueblo, Colorado, Roy Fields, and Robert “Bobby” (Alicia) Fields, both of North Manchester; daughters, Valerie (Gerald) West, Merrillville, Cassandra (Andrew) Gemmer, Decatur, and Judith “Beth” Anderson, Wabash; brother, Donald Ammer, Merrillville; sisters, Pat Kalina, Valparaiso, Pamela (Jim) Turpin, Shari (Ken) Miller, and Debbie (Gary Jordan) Ammer, all of Hobart; thirteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles R. Fields Sr.; sister, Carol Wright; and great-grandson, Jaydence Wimmer.

Family and friends may call Thursday, August 28, 2025 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester.
