David Wayne Nordmann, born on May 23 1957, in Wabash, Indiana, to Wayne E. and Earlene (Conley) Nordmann, passed away on February 20, 2026, at the Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished member of his community.
David's educational journey began at Manchester High School, where he graduated in 1975. His love for music was apparent during his high school years, as he played the saxophone in the school band. Following high school, David pursued further education at Grace College. He began his career at Cyclone in Urbana and later moved to RR Donnelley in Warsaw before discovering his true calling in the funeral industry.
Under the mentorship of Mike Snyder at Bender Funeral Home, David polished his skills and compassion for serving families during their times of grief. He furthered his education at Mid-America Mortuary College, graduating in 1988. David then joined Dieckmann Funeral Home in New Albany, Indiana, before returning to North Manchester, where he devoted himself to the community he loved. His unwavering commitment to providing service with dignity, compassion, and love exemplified what it meant to be a dedicated funeral director.
On February 19, 1982, David married Louise Blocher, and together they raised two children: Christopher and Amanda. Their family blossomed with the addition of five beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to David's life.
Beyond his professional achievements, David was a former member and Past President of the Laketon Lions Club, showcasing his dedication to community service. He had a variety of interests that brought him joy, including watching westerns, going on cruises, and vacationing in Mexico and Florida, where he enjoyed the beach. Pontoon rides around the lake were special moments for David, especially with his family. David also had a passion for painting in watercolor.
David was known for his quiet demeanor yet deeply held strength and compassion. As a Christian man, he exemplified these qualities in both his personal life and professional vocation. He will be remembered not only for his professional dedication but for his kindness, his love for his family, and the warm memories he created with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of service, dignity, and love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
The loving memory of David Nordmann will be forever cherished by his wife, Louise Nordmann, North Manchester; children, Christopher (Shayla) Nordmann, North Manchester and Amanda (Brandon) Fannin, Akron; brother, Mark (Lisa) Nordman, Burkett; grandchildren, Mason, Braylon, Emmalyn, Brycen, and Addisyn; and the many friends he made over the years.
