The family of Judith Cruz Lancaon shares, with heavy hearts and deep love, that she passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by her family at home. Judith was born on August 14, 1960, in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, where her confidence, determination, and warm nature first took shape. Judith immigrated to the U.S. after high school. She went to Drexel University for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. She earned several awards in her four years of service. She was Sailor of the Year, Personnel Support Activity at Groton, CT in 1982. She was also Sailor of the Year, Personnel Support Activity at Treasure Island in 1983. Because of her dedication and excellence, Judith was nominated Fleet Sailor of the Year in 1984, an uncommon nomination for a sailor with under four years of service. After her honorable service, Judith went back to college. With two young children by then and a part-time job, Judith graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1990. Her passion for learning and problem-solving eventually led to her successful career in the IT Department at Regent University. She was the Employee of the Month in March 2017 & she received the President's Award for Excellence in 2017. She completed 22 years of service and retired as Director of Software Development and Support, a role she was truly proud of. Judith was a fun, easygoing spirit, quick-witted and compassionate. She loved watching movies (with a particular fondness for the horror genre) and K-Dramas, playing bingo, and she had an eye for collecting designer purses. She enjoyed shopping for great deals on antique items at estate sales and on Facebook Marketplace. Judith was an avid sports fan, and she loved cheering for the Golden State Warriors and the Philadelphia Eagles. Judith enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come. Family meant everything to Judith. Even with a demanding job that required long hours, she was always there for her children's concerts, games, and school events. In addition to caring for her own family, Judith served her community as the Past Guardian of Bethel 46, International Order of Job's Daughters (IOJD), where she guided and supported the Bethel girls in their activities and ritual duties. For a period of time, Judith also regularly made the six hour drive to North Carolina to visit her parents and brother, Noel. After her parents and brother moved to Chesapeake, Judith continued to provide daily companionship and care for them. Judith did all of this willingly and lovingly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon B. Cruz and Corazon S. Cruz; and her siblings, Minnie, Nap Jr., and Nate Cruz. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ramon Lancaon; and her children, Lorraine Lancaon and her daughter, Hailey Michelle Moll engaged to Austin Laurin, Rebecca Lancaon, married to Jorge Gonzalez, and their children Isabella and Jorge Ramon, and Leigh Lancaon and her partner Cmoe Cordoba. Judith is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Celia Dunham, married to Kenneth Dunham Jr., and their daughter Claudia Dunham, Norman Cruz, married to Nini Cruz, and their daughters Jillian and Corina Cruz, and Noel Cruz. She is also lovingly remembered by her late brother's (Nap Jr.) children, Brandon Cruz, April Brewer, and Kristi Ligaya; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Judith leaves behind a legacy of intelligence, creativity, resilience, and love. Her kindness, humor, confidence, and strength touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. The family invites you to join them for a Rosary/Novena Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home and Crematory, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake. Immediately following the service, they invite you to join them for continued fellowship in the reception center at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Catholic Church of Saint Mark, 1505 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
