Obituary
Judith Ann Longobardo, age 73 of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully in Voorhees, NJ, on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022 after a years' long health struggle. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by her entire family. Born in Trenton, Judy was raised in Point Pleasant, NJ where she graduated from Point Pleasant Borough High School. She attended college at the College of Emporia in Kansas before leaving to start her family. Judy lived in Morrisville, PA for 46 years before moving to Southampton 4 years ago.
Judy met her husband, Vincent John Longobardo, in May 1971 while working at the First National Bank of Tuckerton. It was Vincent's first day on the job, and he had just returned from several tours with the United States Navy, including two combat tours in Vietnam. Judy fell in love with him and his stories of seeing the world, his quick wit, and his ability to spin an exceptional tale. Once married, they ran a trophy business together and also helped their children excel at school and at ball fields. Vincent fondly called Judy the CEO, boss, trainmaster, or admiral, depending on who he was talking to. Life wasn't always easy for them, but they chose each other every single day of their more than 50 years together.
Judy's favorite time of year was Christmas time. She always decorated her home beautifully, and created a magical Christmas for her children and then her grandchildren at her home. Able to type well over 100 words a minute, Judy typed patent applications for several years and then worked as a TTY relay operator with AT&T for over 10 years. Judy was a proud member of the Communications Workers of America Union, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a founding member of the Morrisville Rescue Squad. An avid reader of all types of fiction, Judy enjoyed quilting with her daughter, shopping, and trips to the Jersey Shore. As empty-nesters, Judy and Vincent went on cross-country road trips, where they stopped at every roadside attraction, visited family and casinos, and always ended up taking a back way to some off-the-wall location (sometimes to Judy's chagrin). In all, they visited each of the contiguous states except North Dakota. Two of her favorite trips were to see the Pacific Ocean and to Best Friends animal society in Utah.
Judy loved the color green, warm robes, hot coffee, bracelets, rescue animals, pictures of her family, scallops, breakfast for dinner, being barefoot, and smiley faces. Judy struggled with depression and alcoholism throughout her life. She stopped smoking when her first grandchild (Jory) was born, and was sober for 20 years before her passing. Judy suffered from COPD, endured 11 surgeries on her abdomen, beat cancer multiple times, and lived with parental nutrition and an ostomy for over fifteen years. She fought to live every single day.
The only daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet (Harrop) Hagenlocker, she was predeceased by her older brother, Joseph Weaver Hagenlocker, III. Judy was a devoted daughter and granddaughter, serving as the primary caregiver to both her parents and grandparents in their later years.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Vincent; daughter Jodi Longobardo (Southampton, NJ) and husband Malcolm Bauer and their son, Jory Levi Bauer; son John Longobardo (Phoenix, AZ) and his daughters, Bella Ivy Longobardo and Mia Rose Longobardo; and son Joseph V. Longobardo (Nokesville, VA) and wife Cher Muzyk and their twins, Osprey Longobardo and Atoosa Longobardo; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022 at 1 PM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. Her interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately at a later date. Friends may call Thursday morning from 11 AM – 1 PM at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Judith's name, be made to Best Friends animal society (www.bestfriends.org).
