Judith Madda Obituary

Judith Ann Madda
Born: January 22, 1941 in Royal Oak, MI
Died: July 6, 2022 in Crystal Lake, IL
Judith Ann Madda, 81, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, passed away suddenly on the evening of July 6th, 2022. Judy was born on January 22nd, 1941, the fourth child of Wellington and Peggy Barr in Royal Oak, Michigan. After graduating from Royal Oak Dondero High School in 1959, Judy followed her soulmate James (Doc) Madda to Chicago, Illinois to join him while he studied Dentistry at Northwestern University. After her husband graduated, Judy joined Doc's local dental practice as his righthand woman. They worked together every day for over 30 years, improving smiles across the Crystal Lake community. Judy and Doc went on to have three children, Scott Michael Madda, Dana Elizabeth Madda, and Patrice Kay Stricker. Judy was known for her sweet tooth (her favorites being chocolate and jelly beans), her unbelievably selfless nature, and over-the-top Christmas celebrations. She could often be found eating crepes and eggs at Andy's Restaurant in Crystal Lake, sneaking into Fanny May for a chocolate fix, rooting for the Chicago Cubs, and making friends with everyone that had the chance to meet her.
Besides her longtime husband, Judy's true love was caring for her family, friends, and her community. Whether buying a bike for a stranger at Walmart during the holiday season, or calling daily to check in on you—Judy always put others above herself. Her selfness nature and caring spirit will long be remembered by all who crossed paths with her. She gave a smile when you needed one, a hug when you didn't ask and an extra phone call when you didn't expect it. Judy was a lady of many words. She loved talking to her family so much you could always expect two more calls after you hung up because of things she forgot to say. There was never a time that you'd hang up the phone without hearing "I love you". Judy was proceeded in death by her loving husband Dr. James Vincent Madda, son Scott Michael Madda, brother Donald Barr, and sister Joyce Pittenger. She is survived by her two daughters, Patrice Kay Stricker (Scott) and Dana Elizabeth Madda. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Celeste Smith (Cullen), Austin Madda, Joshua Dingle, and Zachary Stricker, and one great grandson, Bryden William Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald (Rose) Barr.
A memorial mass for Judy will be held at 10am on Thursday July 14, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church 451 W Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
