Funeral services for Judith Anita “Judy” McConnell, 85, will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor David Craig.
Judy was born on March 27, 1938 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to James C. Geter Sr. and Lena Desadier Geter and passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Judy was a resident of Shreveport and a homemaker. She was married 69 years to the love of her life, Jack C. McConnell, Jr. Her hobbies included gardening, boating, RVing, camping, bowling, and just having fun! She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lena Geter; brothers, James C. Geter, Jr. and Joe H. Geter, Sr.; sisters, Jean Kent, Carol Doiron, and Donna Geter. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jack C. McConnell, Jr.; sons, Robert McConnell and wife, Terri, and Cleve McConnell; daughter, Jackie Fortner and husband, Jack; grandchildren, Shawna Hornsby, Jeremy McConnell, Angela Free, Alicia Ardoin, J.W. McConnell, Marc McConnell, and Mandy Morris; great-grandchildren, Tori Antee, Cody Free, Tyton Antee, Cole Free, Savannah Ardoin, Riley McConnell, Kai McConnell, Jaxson Hornsby, Miles McConnell, Robert Morris, Claire Morris; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring Judy as pallbearers will be Jeremy McConnell, Marc McConnell, Cody Free, Cole Free, Jason Free, and Brad Bland. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Jack Fortner.
