Judith Ann (Mudge) McCormick
Age 87, of Wilmington, Illinois, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Heartland Senior Living in Neoga, Illinois.
Born on November 13, 1938, in Highland Park, Michigan, Judith Ann was the daughter of Winfield and Jo (Hardy) Mudge. She was raised and educated in Michigan, graduating from Ypsilanti High School with the Class of 1956. She then attended Ohio University majoring in Graphic Arts.
Judy met the love of her life, John Buell McCormick in college and they were married on August 12, 1960, in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, together raising their family and building a life filled with love and devotion.
Judy enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, working more than 20 years as a commercial artist with the Decatur Herald & Review, as well as with Ohio Valley (Miami) Paper, from which she retired in 2002. Beyond her professional life, she found great joy in her artistic pursuits. A gifted creator, she expressed herself through painting, quilting, and sculpture. Her beautiful works were proudly featured in various shows. Her artistic vision was also reflected in the wall murals she painted as well as the tapestries & wall hangings for the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington.
Above all, Judy's life centered on her family and faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love, guidance, and creativity left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
She was a wonderful mother and is survived by her two children, John (Tammy) McCormick of Wilmington and Margaret (Scott) Adams of Ashtabula, Ohio; four grandchildren, Morgan (Ferat) Imrak, John McCormick, Jacen Adams, and Justin Adams; sister, Linda (Scot) Skinner of Michigan.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, John.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.
