Judith Nowicki Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hare Funeral Home - New Lisbon on Jan. 21, 2026.
Judith K. Murphy Nowicki, age 79 of Mauston, WI. passed away on January 17, 2026, at her home. Judith was the daughter of Harold and Phyllis (Micklo) Schmoldt and was born on September 17, 1946, in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

A proud graduate of Medford High School in 1964, Judith's early life was filled with the joy of learning and the warmth of close-knit family ties. Her heart found its match when she met and married Martin Murphy on October 7,1966. Together, they built a life in the Kenosha area before moving to Necedah, Wisconsin, in 1978. The couple was blessed with a loving family, and Judith's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply. After Martin's passing in 1987, Judith's resilience shone through as she moved to New Lisbon in 1981 to start a new chapter.

In 1993, Judith married Damon Nowicki, and they enjoyed years of companionship in Necedah. Although their paths later diverged, Judith continued to find strength and joy in her family and work. She moved to Mauston in 2007, where she would spend her remaining years surrounded by the community she loved.

Judith's professional life was characterized by her long-standing commitment to the Dumore corporation in Mauston, where she worked for over 24 years before retiring.

A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, Judith's enthusiasm for the game was only eclipsed by her love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by her children, Kim (Dave) Wyman of Steger, IL, Scott (Brenda) Murphy of Kaukauna, and Kevin (Brenda) Murphy of New Lisbon. Her siblings, Bev (Gary) Rick of AR, Bonnie Johnson of Kenosha, Bruce (Karen) Schmoldt of Kenosha, and Penny Andrews of Kenosha, will hold dear the memories of their sister's loving spirit.

Judith's role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. Her granddaughters, Jennifer (Justin) Mullenberg of La Crosse and Karrington (Fiancé Austin Brown) Murphy of Cashton, will forever cherish the moments spent with their beloved grandmother.

Per Judith's wishes no services will be held. A private family graveside will take place at a later date in the New Lisbon City Cemetery. The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with arrangements.
