Cumberland,
Judith A. Ofcarcik, 89, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John Ofcarcik. They were married for 47 years.
Born in Webster, MA., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary E. (Fullam) Penkala.
Judith dedicated her life to the care and well-being of her family, always placing their needs above her own. Later, she extended her compassion and organizational talents to her work in the Guidance Office at Cumberland High School, where she supported students and staff for four years. She then enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the Human Resources Department at Valley Gas, where she worked for over 20 years and was admired for her kindness, dedication, and professionalism.
Throughout her life, Judith shared her creativity and love of the arts by teaching art classes and expressing her talents as a gifted watercolor and acrylic artist. Her watercolor paintings earned numerous awards, and she generously shared her expertise by teaching countless adults the art of watercolor over many years. She was also skilled in calligraphy, completing countless diplomas for the Cumberland School system, with her beautiful penmanship. A devoted communicant of St. Joseph Church, she served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher. Beyond her artistic and spiritual pursuits, Judith enjoyed an active lifestyle-playing tennis at Fore Court for many years and later embracing yoga as part of her daily routine. She also found joy in tending her garden and in volunteering her time to knit hats for infants and children, sharing warmth and care with others through her craft.
Judith is survived by her loving children, David J. Ofcarcik and his wife Debra of Paxton, MA, and Lynne M. Pendergrass and her husband Garret of Aledo, TX. Her brother Donald Penkala and his wife Barbara of Dudley, MA; her grandchildren; Kyle D. Ofcarcik and his wife Leslie Donovan-Ofcarcik of Worcester, MA; Kendall A. Ofcarcik and her fiancé Nikolaus Bernardone of Fort Meyers, FL; and Sage K. Pendergrass of Madison, MS. Her great-grandchildren Paxton K. Ofcarcik and Logan G. Ofcarcik, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Edith Bardy, and sister-in-law of the late Steve Bardy and Priscilla Penkala.
The Ofcarcik family is incredibly thankful to Kendall who cared so lovingly and unselfishly during the last month of her life.
