Judith Ann (Mills) Pierson, 85, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025 at her home. She was born in Evansville to the late Dolores (Groeninger) and James H. Mills.
Judy graduated from St. Benedict School in 1954 and Bosse High School in 1958. She received her LPN at Ivy Tech in 1972. She enjoyed participating in Brownies and Girl Scouts. Judy attended the first World Girl Scout Round-Up. Judy also worked as a counselor at Camp Koch. She liked spending time sewing, knitting, crocheting and was an accomplished quilter. In 1999, her Barn Quilt was featured in the Country Quilt Magazine. Judy loved antiques and had her own shop when living in Merom, Indiana. She worked for several auctioneers in the county and Patterson Auction Barn. Judy was a part-time manager at Cloth World before it closed in Evansville. She worked as an LPN at Little Sisters of the Poor in Evansville until her retirement.
Judy is survived by her sons, Richard W. (Julie) Pierson and Brian Pierson; daughters, Lisanne (Jeff) Thorpe and Jamie (Aaron) Graves; grandchildren, Mary Anne Beard, Richard Marshall and Lizzie, Caitlin Phegley and Tucker Phegley; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Pierson; sister, Barbara Hicks; and grandson, Isaac Phegley.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (CST) Saturday, December 20, 2025 at St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at the church with Father Tyler Underhill officiating.
Burial will be at Merom Cemetery, Merom, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Cathedral, 1328 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714.
