"The Don of the Peninsula" this 37 year Santa Clara University Professor was called in the San Francisco Examiner by author Kevin Starr. "The Best Teacher Ever," wrote a former student who became a noted Stanford Professor. Denison University, UCLA MA, PhD and a Fulbright Scholarship all had a role in his development. Being a Naval officer on the USS Intrepid opened the world to him.
Author of books on Spanish History, and an Encyclopedia of Spain, book reviewer in noted journals and newspapers, an artist who continued to paint until the end, Peter lived a rich and full life. Lecturing at the Fromm Institute was a highlight of his retirement years.
His San Francisco life was enriched by the Opera, his Bohemian Club membership, and his many friends. His long friendship with Harry and Margot deWildt took him around the world on many summer breaks.
Peter leaves behind many friends, his two sisters, and nieces and nephews and their children, whose lives were all enriched by his knowledge and love of music and history.
