Barbara Helen Evans, 86, passed away on January 28, 2026. She was born on February 26, 1939, in San Francisco, CA and was the only daughter of the late Genevieve Young.
Barbara graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1961 with a Bachelors degree in Nursing. After college, she made her way to New York and discovered a lifelong love of travel. Wherever she went, she saved a matchbook from every restaurant she visited - small souvenirs of big memories. Her collection eventually grew to several hundred, filling a large glass vase and serving as a colorful reminder of her adventures.
In the early 1970s, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she married and raised two children. She was the heart of their daily lives- the quintessential soccer mom-driving to practices and games and a familiar face on school field trips, happily volunteering as chaperone. Throughout those years and in later life, she found joy in reading, often with newspaper in hand, working in her garden, playing board games, and spending time with the animals she loved.
Barbara will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, intelligence, loyalty, humor, and beautiful smile. She will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved her.
Friends may visit at 10:00am on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, CA, with her Funeral Service at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society at humanesociety.org.
