Mike was raised in the Sunset district of SF, then lived in North Beach for the last 40 years, where he died at home.
He was an avid sports fan, loved to walk the piers to check out the ships that came to port, and waited all year to see the Blue Angels put on a show over his apartment.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Marian Arata, and his nephew Josh Bendotoff. He left behind his 5 siblings, Chis Howell, Donna Bendotoff, John Arata, Angie Fairbanks, and Laurie deGhetaldi. He had 12 nieces and nephews as well as 10 great nieces and nephews.
A family service will be held in spring.
