Judith E. “Judy” Buffington, 85 of Westfield, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025. Judy was born December 7, 1939 in Danville, IL to the late Frederick W. and Dorothy E. Prettyman.
During her time in Danville, Judy was selected as Miss Red Gloves her senior year in high school which benefited charities in the area. She also worked at Sandusky’s Furniture store as an Interior Designer and helped decorate several customer homes. She was also an award-winning Watercolor Artist winning several local and regional awards for her amazing artwork. Carrying on her creative love of all things, Judy was also a Master Gardener. She was well known in the community for planning and creating beautiful gardenscapes. Her love of flowers influenced others and she passed on her love to those who knew her.
In 1976, Judy, Tom Budd (her first husband), Philip and Barbara (her children) moved to Indianapolis, IN. where she remained the rest of her life, building a community of friends and family. Judy was a bank teller for 20 years, retiring in 2004 from Chase Bank. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, was in the Women’s Junior Group with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and was a volunteer at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 8 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, where family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
Judy was the widow of Philip R. “Phil” Buffington. She is survived by her son, Philip Budd, daughter Barbara E. (Tim) Campbell; grandchildren, Douglas Campbell, Victoria (Connor) Doherty and Madeleine Budd; great granddaughter, Keira Doherty; sister, Faith Meece; brother, Frederick “Pat” Prettyman.
