Lenora Platt Giniger, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on November 23, 2025, at one month shy of 99 years of age.
A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Lenora was born on December 22, 1926, to the late Jacob and Anna Platt. She graduated from Shortridge High School and later attended college courses.
Lenora and her husband, the late Sheldon Giniger, built a home filled with light, warmth, laughter, and love. Over the years, they welcomed many pets, as Lenora had a deep affection for animals.
Judaism was central to Lenora’s life. The family lived near their synagogue, Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, where she was an active member of the Loyal Daily Minyan, volunteered at the synagogue library, created a grief-support group, and generously gave her time to Riley Children’s Hospital.
Together, Lenora and Sheldon supported their growing family through their work at American Auto Parts, a Platt–Cohen family business, where Lenora served as a sales clerk and assisted with deliveries.
Lenora is survived by her daughters, Barbara Giniger and Marcia Berger; her grandchildren, Brian (Casey) Lambert, Jeremy (Erika Smalls) Lambert, and Michael Berger; and her great-grandchildren, Samantha Lambert, Zoey Lambert, Taran Lambert, Kyle Lambert, and Draco Lambert. She is also survived by her devoted caregivers, Robbin Mason and Brenda Woods and her three nieces Sharon Marer, Helaine Marer and Fran Reed
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sheldon, in 1992, her daughter, Tina Lambert, in 1994, and her beloved sister, Ida Belle (Herb) Marer, in 2023.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025,at 11:00am, at Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery.
