Flanner Buchanan - CarmelSuzanne Karol Auscherman, 86, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Suzanne was born to Eugene and Kathleen Wallace and grew up in Indianapolis with a sharp mind, generous heart, and a lifelong love of music, books, and nature. A graduate of Shortridge High School, she and Robert G. “Bob” Auscherman were high school sweethearts. Their marriage lasted 59 years and defined her life through love, laughter, hard work, and shared purpose.
Suzanne attended Ball State University, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, and later graduated from the IUPUI School of Real Estate. She built a 35-year career in real estate with AHM Graves and later F.C. Tucker, where she served as a managing agent. She was active in the Indianapolis Board of Realtors, the Realtors National Marketing Institute, and the Women’s Council of Realtors, admired by colleagues for her professionalism, creativity, and persistence.
She brought that same energy to her community life as a member of the Women’s Symphony Committee, Trinity Madrigal Singers, and Mu Alpha Latreian. Suzanne was very social, with many friends she cherished and who enriched her life.
A gifted musician, Suzanne sang and played piano, organ, and guitar, often filling family gatherings with music and laughter. She loved tending her garden and flowers, completing her daily crossword puzzle, and playing bridge with friends. She and Bob shared a lifelong passion for antiquing, home renovation, and furniture restoration, transforming spaces and objects together with patience and care.
Suzanne was a gracious host, loyal friend, and loving mother and grandmother who adored her nieces and nephews. Her warmth, humor, and sense of care touched everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her son, Gregory Eugene Auscherman. She is survived by her children, Wendy Reed and Andy (Natalie) Auscherman; grandchildren, Amy, Allie (Kari) and Drew Auscherman, and Cooper Reed; great-grandchild, Glen Auscherman; and sister, Karen (Bobby) West.
A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held Sunday, November 16, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan–Carmel. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, 1920 W. Morris St., Indianapolis, IN 46221.
