Judith Rivkin Obituary

Judy (née Hirschman) Rivkin passed away on January 10, 2026, at age 88 after a life full of love, friendship, and connection. She was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Mac Rivkin, as well as her cherished parents, Jerry and Lilah Hirschman. She is survived by her sons Vic Rivkin (Kerstin Jarzina) and Jan Rivkin (Debbie Kadish); her brother Henry Hirschman and sisters-in-love Tama Halfon (late Shaul) and Rose Anne Schulman (Alan); her beloved grandchildren Noah, Adam, Logan, and Izzie; more than 50 treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; many dear friends; and an incredibly wonderful team of caregivers. She was also predeceased by her sisters-in-love Marlene Riebman (Murray) and Helen Hirschman.

Judy was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She moved to Howard County, Maryland, in 1979 and lived there for the rest of her life, except for four exciting years that she and Mac spent in Brazil. Everywhere she went, her constant smile and warmth won her lifelong friends. She never met a stranger. Judy gave her time and her heart generously to nonprofits that supported girls and young women in the favelas of Brazil, helped schoolchildren in Maryland, educated immigrants, and much more.

Services will be held in Charleston, SC. Please omit flowers. Contributions in Judy's memory may be sent to the Jewish Federation of Howard County or HIAS. A celebration of her life will be held in Columbia, MD, at a future date.
