Judith Rudi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Starks & Menchinger Chapel - Saint Joseph on Dec. 8, 2025.
Mrs. Judith Carol (Broderick) Rudi, age 80, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in St. Joseph, MI.

Judi was born on September 26, 1945, to Clifford and Elvie Broderick in Chicago, IL. She grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL before meeting Dr. Richard Rudi. The two were married in 1968 and moved to Downers Grove, IL to start their family. In 2014, the couple moved to Crown Point, IN and resided there until Richard passed away in 2023. Judi then moved to St. Joseph, MI to be closer to family.

Judi was selfless and loved helping others. She never met a stranger. She cherished numerous friendships, many of whom she would deeply impact with her faith and joy of life. Most important was Judi's faith and her love for the Lord. She enjoyed volunteering at church functions and events, so much so she was often given a master key to her church home. Judi touched the lives of so many around her with her kindness and compassion. She was a two-time cancer survivor and her strength and positive attitude throughout her treatments were truly an inspiration to so many. Judi loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and grand dogs, as well as walking and biking in her free time. She will also be remembered for her love of baking and thanking others with her delicious chocolate chip cookies and homemade hot fudge. Even in her final days she continued to leave a legacy of loving others, including her many friends at Story Point and the Senior Center in St. Joseph, MI.

Judi is survived by her daughters, Jana (Todd) Gore and Sharon (John) Owens; grandchildren, Rachel Gore, Erika Gore, Ellie Wayner (fiancé Michael Khalilian), and Grant (Hadyn) Wayner; siblings, Jim (Kathy) Broderick and Janet (Bill) McKay; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Judi was also preceded in death by her stepson, Bob Rudi.

Cremation burial and Celebration of Life to be held in the spring. Donations in memory of Judi, can be made to Sanctuary in Trauma, PO Box 7141 Romeoville, Illinois 60446, a ministry run by a dear friend of nearly 40 years.

Arrangements by Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, 49085.
