Judith Shapiro Obituary

Published by Schneider Funeral Directors on Jan. 12, 2011.
Judith "Judi" A. Shapiro, age 58, of Janesville, died on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Mercy Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Richland Center on Nov. 6, 1952, the daughter of Ellis and Ella (Moore) Miller. She married Marc O. Shapiro in Madison on Aug. 29, 1970. She was employed by Certified Parts Corp. for many years. Judi inspired everyone with her courage, endless love, tender care, and by always thinking of others before herself. She was truly a "what you see is what you get" person whose spontaneity and sense of humor made her so unique. Judi enjoyed gardening, crafting, cooking and most of all, spending time with her family. Judi is survived by her husband, Marc; 3 children: Joel (Jill) Shapiro of Janesville, Mindy (Travis) Downing of Milton and Marc Shapiro II; 3 grandchildren: Ashley, Logan and Addyson; 6 siblings: LeRoy (Stormie) Miller of Plover, Ronald (Mary) Miller of Barneveld, Janet (Kenneth) Martinson of Loganville, Larry (Joyce) Miller of Adams, Gary Miller of Cannon Falls, MN and Linda (Ronald) Hanson of Janesville; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son, Michael. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Wendee Nitz officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 to 12:30 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. Lasting Memorials may be made to International Myeloma Foundation or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Mercy Oncology and ICU for the loving care given to Judi.
