Judith Swansburg Smith "Judy" passed away Friday, January 9 of Parkinson's Disease She was 82

Her husband, Samuel Y. Smith, Jr Sam, 87, survives her after a marriage of over 45 years.

Born February 12, 1943, Yarmouth Nova Scotia, Canada, she graduated from the Yarmouth

School of Nursing, Class of 1963 and later completed her Master's Degree in Public

Administration, University of Michigan.

Judy a Lt Colonel, Army Nurse Corps served in the Maryland Army National Guard's

Headquarters Detachment, State Area Command, Medical Surgical Nurse and as a Senior

Executive Service Deputy to the Commander, Ft. Mease Garrison, retiring from both.

Sam joined the Maryland Army National, with Judy's help, as a former Naval Reserve Lieutenant

and served 8 additional years moving through ranks to Warrant Officer 4, but had to

retire at the previous high rank (O-3), Captain, U.S. Army.

Their residences, were in the Timonium area during most of their marriage, their most recent,

Bright View Mays Chapel Senior Living. They both spent many summers in Nova Scotia, traveling

and visiting her large family.

She is survived by 6 siblings and 14 nephews and nieces and 2 step children.

Timonium, MD 21093. After her cremation, Ruck Funeral Home, Towson, her ashes will be sent

to Huskilson Funeral Home, Shelburne, Nova Scotia.
