Judith Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Checotah on Jan. 26, 2026.
Judith Doris (Anderson) Smith, 98, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. She was born on March 4, 1927, near Porter, Oklahoma, to Thomas L. Anderson and Nancy (Childres) Anderson. Judith was one of eleven children, and growing up in a farming family taught her the value of hard work and helping one another.

The Anderson family later moved to the Muskogee area, where Judith attended school and spent her childhood. She came to know and trust the Lord at an early age and remained a devoted member of the Baptist faith throughout her life.

After graduating high school, Judith met and married William "Bill" Smith. They made their home in Muskogee and raised their son, Harold Wayne, who was active in sports. After Harold graduated high school, he served four years in the United States Navy. During this time, Judith and Bill enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada, later joining travel tours when they grew tired of long drives.

Judith cherished time with her grandchildren and often expressed how blessed she felt by the Lord's goodness. In 1993, she experienced the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Bill, to a sudden heart attack.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nancy Anderson; her beloved husband, Bill; her son, Harold Wayne; eight sisters; two brothers; and their spouses.

Judith is survived by her friend, Sheila Dause of Muskogee; her daughter in law, Sharon Smith of Muskogee; her grandson, Christopher Wayne of Tecumseh; her granddaughter, Sarah Jane Smith of Reno, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Checotah, with Rev. Mike Hart officiating. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee will follow at a later date when weather permits.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
