SunJun Luke July, age 22, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026. He was born on January 22, 2003, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Troy Eugene Carter and Sonya Rae July.

A 2021 graduate of Southmoore High School, SunJun was known for his dedication, determination, and vibrant school spirit. He excelled in wrestling, played football, and proudly participated in the high school band. After graduation, he continued his education at Moore Norman Technology Center, pursuing a career in dentistry. As a STEM recipient, he earned recognition for his commitment to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. SunJun was a member of First Baptist Church – East Side of Checotah, where his faith and community remained important to him. He enjoyed anime, UFC fighting, cheering on the New England Patriots, savoring a refreshing Coca-Cola, and indulging in coconut cream pies. Above all, he cherished time with his beloved dogs: Angel, Poncho, Chocolate, and Luna.

He is survived by his loving mother, Sonya July of the home; his father, Troy Carter of Checotah; his siblings, Tiffany and James Joiner of Checotah, Troy July, and Laura Carter, both of Moore; his uncles, Danny July of Moore and Keith July of Checotah; his two godmothers, Dorothy Spring of Rentiesville and Deanna Smith; and his nephews, Harrison, Logan, Lucas, and Mason. He is also survived by his extended Carter family and many more relatives and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

SunJun was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cornelius and Laura Carter; his maternal grandparents, Joe and Clara July; his aunts, Joy Amber, Angie Davis, and Evelyn Carter; and his uncles, Jeremy July, Marvin Carter, Hermit, Guy, and Tabo.
