Cynthia Boykin Obituary

Visit the Moore Funeral and Cremation website to view the full obituary.
Cynthia Lynn Boykin, age 71, departed this life to be with God on March 22, 2026. She was born on April 4, 1954 to Joseph and Juanita McCoy in Los Angeles, California and was the oldest of four children. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers Mark McCoy and Eric McCoy (Jeannie), sister Pamela Johnson (Ray), her daughter Khara (John) O'Loughlin of Moore, OK, her son Adam Jacobson of Yukon, OK, her son Austin (Aushleana) Boykin of Edmond, OK, and her nine grandchildren. She leaves behind a loving family, friends, and colleagues to celebrate her life.

Cynthia was a hard worker with a big heart, and she prioritized education, faith, and service. After graduating from Cupertino High School in 1972, she attended California State University Long Beach where she earned her bachelor's degree. Years later, she graduated from Oral Roberts University with her master's degree in special education and went to work for the Jenks School District of Oklahoma. After teaching special education for years more, she earned her PhD in Pediatric Neuropsychology from Oklahoma State University. Her doctoral degree was followed by an internship in Nebraska and a two-year fellowship at University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center. Her work took her around the country where she touched the lives of countless children and families with her steadfast dedication and endless love. During all of this she never forgot her faith nor her three children.

Shortly before being diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, she retired. Even in retirement, she refused to use her illness as an excuse. She was involved at her church, spent time with her grandchildren, and was always ready to help complete strangers with anything they may need. To Cynthia there were no strangers; there were only people that could use a hand or a listening ear. She will be sorely missed, greatly loved, and always remembered.

We will honor Cynthia's life at 10am at St. John's Lutheran Church in Moore, Oklahoma.
