Judith "Judy" Ann Smith
Judy passed peacefully on January 31, 2026 at Monroe Community Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Judy is survived by her husband Carl, son Michael, daughter Michele, grandchildren; Christopher, Alyssa, Lukas, Gabriel, her brother Harry Canfield (Penny), sister in law, Dona Zagryn (Guy) and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, mother, and brothers; Chester and Hestel.
Judy was born on February 23, 1942, in Montrose, WV, to Alvah O. Canfield and Bessie Canfield (Hedrick). A graduate of Elkins High School, in Elkins W.V. and Strayer Business School in Washington, D.C., where she began her professional life as a secretary.
In 1965, Judy met and married her husband, Carl. The couple soon moved to Rochester, NY, where they built a life together and raised their two children. Following retirement, Judy and Carl spent 25 years traveling the country in their RV, embracing the freedom of the open road. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her kindness and spirit of adventure left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Judy's memory.
