Judith Groscost Sterns

Judith Groscost Sterns, a beloved member of the South Boston community, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, just shy of her 87th birthday. Born in Pennsylvania on March 16, 1939, Judith was the daughter of the late Gerald Groscost and Grace Carroll Groscost. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 64 years, Jerome Cortland "Corky" Sterns. She was cherished by family and friends alike for her vivacious spirit and infectious laughter that could light up any room.

Judith spent over three decades of her life in the secretarial profession for the school system and finding her true calling at McCollum Ferrell shoe store, where she dedicated 23 years to providing exceptional service and building lasting relationships. Her colleagues and clients remember her fondly as an epitome of professionalism and grace, and her keen sense of fashion never went unnoticed. A true fashionista, Judith had an innate love for shopping and being stylish. Her impeccable taste and flair for fashion were only exceeded by her love of good wine and cheese, which she delighted in sharing with friends and family. Judith's laughter was as timeless as her style, and she had a remarkable ability to bring joy to any gathering.

Family was at the heart of Judith's life, and she took immense pride in her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, and she took every opportunity to spoil them with love and affection.

She is survived by her children, Tracey Sterns Devin, Christopher Alan Sterns & Jennifer Sterns Landreneau; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and sister, Sandra Chlpka.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Groscost and Gerald Groscost, Jr.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church. The family will receive family and friends at Berry Hill Mansion Library immediately following the service.
