Mason, NH – Judith A. (Koch) Tibbetts, 79, of Mason, passed away Friday evening, March 6, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Judy was born on October 14, 1946, in
Groton, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Whitherell) Koch. She grew up in Townsend and graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School with the Class of 1964.
Judy worked for several years as a press operator for New England Business Service and later for Deluxe Checks prior to her retirement.
Judy always looked for the good in life and shared that joy with everyone around her. Her positive, warm, and bubbly personality made people instantly feel comfortable, loved, and appreciated. She had a natural gift for nurturing others and a deep passion for helping wherever she was needed. Judy was famous for her hugs, which had a way of making everything feel a little better. Her heart for service was reflected throughout her life, including nearly 30 years of volunteering at Steeple Fellowship Church and many years of involvement with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Helping others was simply who Judy was, and she gave her time and love freely to anyone who needed it.
Judy had a well known love for lobster and often joked that she could happily live on it alone. She was also known for her wicked sweet tooth, especially when it came to peppermint patties.
She loved spending time outdoors, enjoying walks on beautiful days and sledding in the winter with her grandchildren and great grandson. Judy also had a love for books and could often be found reading and sharing that love of stories with others. Being around children brought her great joy, and she cherished every opportunity to teach, encourage, and spend time with them.
Anyone who met Judy immediately felt her warmth and quickly fell in love with her kind spirit. Her family often said they never knew anyone who met her who did not feel welcomed and appreciated in her presence. To Judy, love was the most important thing in life, and she believed it should be shared freely with those around you. A spontaneous hug and kiss and the simple words "I love you" were often the highlight of her day.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Kenneth S. Tibbetts of
Mason, New Hampshire; her son, Scott Tibbetts of
Mason, New Hampshire; three daughters, Kelli Fitzgerald of Pepperell, Massachusetts, and Kristen Tibbetts and Kourtney Tibbetts, both of
Mason, New Hampshire; her brother, Rick Koch of Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Shirley Shepherd of Waterville, Maine, and Donna Davis of Templeton, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Sarah Fitzgerald and Adam Fitzgerald; two great grandchildren, Colson and Grier; a bonus grandson, Jose Araujo; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is pre-deceased by a son-in-law, Mark Fitzgerald and a brother Bruce Koch.
Judy will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her. Her kindness, joyful spirit, and endless hugs will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Her funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11 AM in the Steeple Fellowship Church, 793 Main St., Lancaster.
