Judy Laye West, age 78, of Byromville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025.
Affectionately known as “Muddy,” Judy was a woman whose heart overflowed with love, laughter, and generosity. She was happiest in her kitchen—cooking, catering, and sharing meals that brought family and friends together. Her love for cooking grew into a successful business, Occasions with Flavor, through which she catered weddings, reunions, and community events. Judy also worked for many years as a teller at the Bank of Dooly, where her friendly spirit and genuine kindness made every customer feel like family.
Judy was a steadfast supporter of the family farm and a member of the Byromville United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Edith Elrod Circle. Judy will be remembered for her love, her warm spirit, and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy of faith, love of family, and care for others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Danny West of Byromville; her three beloved children, Wrynn Carson (Kenny) of Monroe, Stephanie Chapman (Jamie) of Warwick, and Bruce West (Patricia) of Byromville; her ten cherished grandchildren; and one precious great-grandson. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Cindy Lumpkin (Walt) of Newnan; a host of nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, including her special friend, Dianne Whitaker, who held a meaningful place in her heart.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ann Laye of Shellman and her sister, Debbie Bonner.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday, November 3 in Hephzibah Cemetery with Rev. Stacey Hanson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pruitt Health Hospice, 708 East 16th Avenue, Cordele, Georgia 31015.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Magnolia Manor for their exceptional care and support during Judy’s final days.
