Judy DeSocio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Millennium Cremation Service - Vero Beach on Jun. 28, 2025.
Judy Teresa DeSocio (Kelly), age 77, passed peacefully in her home in Vero Beach, Florida on June 23rd, 2025.

Judy was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. She moved to Kansas after high school and worked at the University of Kansas, later moving back to Bridgeport where she married Raymond Taylor in 1975 and had two sons, Shawn and Christopher. They relocated to Stratford, CT where she was an avid fan of Pop Warner and Bunnell High School football. Judy loved vacationing with her three siblings and large wonderful family. Wild adventures and pranks ensued on trips to the Outer Banks, Ocean City, and New Hampshire where "muckaluck" was guaranteed to be on the menu. Judy worked in the insurance industry for many years.

In 1998, Judy married the love of her life, Raymond DeSocio Sr, moving to Middlebury, CT where she realized her dream of having her very own backyard pool, that was always very clean and VERY warm. Short summer months in Connecticut led Judy and Ray south to Vero Beach to be near her brother and sister in 2017.

Judy loved hosting family holiday dinners for all the extended family, and if 10 pounds of potatoes was enough, surely 20 pounds was even better – a life philosophy that may have contributed to an always-full refrigerator. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, board games, and long drives with Ray, going no place in particular yet finding fun adventures and restaurants along the way. They enjoyed spending summers on Cape Cod with the Kids and later purchased an RV they kept there for much of the last decade to enjoy as their Summer Home.

Judy had a wry sense of humor and always had fun stories to tell, including tales of her adventures at Woodstock and on a commune in Kansas. She always kept conversations fun with her eccentric sayings such as "Oh my garage" and "You are full of soup".

Judy was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Kelly (Jones) and father, Edward Kelly. She was also predeceased by her siblings: Mary DellaGioia and her husband, Joseph, Beth Ann Samu, and William Kelly. She is survived by: her husband, Raymond DeSocio Sr, sister-in-laws, Peggy Kelly, Lillian (DeSocio) Robinson (Eddie), Janice (DeSocio) Coradazzi (Michael) and brother-in-laws, Ken Samu, Peter DeSocio (Cheryl), Paul DeSocio (MaryCaye); children Shawn Taylor (Cathy) and Christopher Taylor (Kerri); Raymond DeSocio Jr (Christine), and Marci Valliere (Dave). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Katelynn, Rachael, and Ryan Taylor, Grant Taylor, Evan and Hannah Valliere, and Raymond and Everett DeSocio.

Judy will be missed by countless nieces, nephews, and friends.
