Judy Vaughn was born as the 5 th child of 8, to Laten Lee Vaughn and Lillie (Thompson) Vaughn on January 8 th, 1949, in Laquey, Missouri, where her, and her family attended church at the Idumea Baptist Church, which is also where Judy was saved and baptized. The family lived a simple country life, where they brought water from the creek to do laundry, sewed their own clothes, gardened and the kids played, with many happy memories, like the poem she had written about their adventures on Miller's Pond. Their dad, Lee, was a truckdriver, and the family followed his work to California, where she then graduated from Chaffee High School. She started kindergarten in Missouri at 4yrs old, and graduated at mid-year in 1966 at 16. In January she turned 17 and the family moved back to Missouri, where she started working in a local bank. In February she met Bernie Evans, and that is where their love story began, and by October they were married.

Over the years they lived in Chicago, then back to Missouri by 1971 where they lived until she passed, living in Turkey Ridge, moving to Marshfield, then eventually settling in Aldrich, Missouri for the last 39 years and making their 5 acres into a farm, orchard and peaceful home with fishing and Stockton lake close by. For over 10 years Judy took care of Bernie's younger brother Lloyd with Down's Syndrome and took him everywhere she went, loving him like her own brother. All family gatherings and holidays would fill the home with their family – 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Judy had a passion for cooking, sewing, and making everything special at every holiday, never missing anyone's birthday and a reason to celebrate family. She was very close to God and gave to the community, donating time and food to food pantries and other organizations that helped people in need. She and Bernie started every day with the Bible, always putting God first in her life.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Martha, Norma, and Lillie Ann, as well as her sisters-in-law Shellay, Sharon Morris and Sharon Evans, her brothers-in-law Jerry, Floyd, Lloyd, and Larry. She is survived by her husband Bernie who she was married to for 59 years, her daughters Gina Trussell and Kimberly Brumback, and her son Russell Evans, their children and grandchildren.

A visitation will begin at 12:30 pm till 1:30 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home, North with a funeral service beginning at 1:30 pm also in the funeral home. Following she will be laid to rest at Idumea Cemetery in Laquey, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eda Grand Oak Baptist Mission Center, 2854 Grand Street, Springfield, MO 65802.
