Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frederick Funeral Home on Dec. 17, 2025.
Judy Haas, beloved friend and vibrant spirit, will be remembered fondly following her peaceful passing on December 8, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on October 5, 1945, in
Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Melvin and Norma (Schaefer) Haas, Judy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the world around her.
Survived by cherished friends Christina Boehm, Janice Webb, and Lois McCown, as well as her dear cousins Shirley Ashbrock and Betty Burke, Judy leaves behind a legacy of friendship and kindness that touched many hearts. Her family extended to many cousins and relatives, reminding us all of the bonds that weave us together.
Judy's journey began at Our Lady of the Rosary Grade School and continued as a proud graduate of Our Lady of the Angels High School in 1963. She spent her career as a dedicated clerk at Western Southern Insurance Company, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues during her years of service. Throughout her life, her curiosity and love for nature drew her to volunteer at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve, where she found solace and joy among the trees and trails. An avid bird lover, Judy delighted in the company of her beloved cockatiels, Mate, C Si and Gus, who were often her cheerful companions.
An adventurous soul, Judy embraced life with enthusiasm, traveling with friends and family, particularly on those cherished trips to the tropics, with a soft spot for the enchanting shores of Hawaii. Her spirit truly flourished during the Native American reenactments in Friendship, Indiana, where her love for history and culture shone brightly. As a member of the USS Yorktown NCC-1704, Judy proudly showcased her passion for Star Trek, and her devotion to the music of Jimmy Buffett was unmatched-she made it a point to never miss a concert in Cincinnati.
To honor Judy's vibrant life, visitation will be held at St. Ann Church, 2900 W. Galbraith Rd., on Friday (Jan. 2) from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. The church is fully handicap accessible, ensuring that everyone can gather to honor her memory and share their stories. In deference to her love for the Cincinnati Reds and fondness for all things avian, attendees are encouraged to wear red or anything reflecting her beloved birds.
