Judy Faye Hardin Butler, of Elizabethtown went to her eternal home on December 24, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born on January 25, 1945, in Robeson County. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Harley Hardin and Virginia Nancy Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifton Butler and one sister, Carolyn Crawford.
Judy leaves behind daughter, Wendy B. Dockery and husband Joey of Dublin, brother Jasper “Buckwheat” Hardin and wife Carol of Lisbon, sisters, Linda Brown of Bolton and Kathy Flowers and husband Carlos of Wilmington, two grandchildren Brittney Hester and husband Maurice, and Henry Dockery. She also leaves one great grandson, Will Hester and a special friend and caretaker, Lois Dennard.
Judy was an outgoing, loving lady who enjoyed spending time with family. She walked a many of miles by Clifton’s side, rode bikes with Wendy, go carts with Brittney, playing cards with Henry and spent time holding and rocking baby Will. She loved to watch her hummingbirds fly and was faithful in reminding Clifton when it was time to refill the sugar water for her little friends. She was most content with the simple things such as a trip to McDonalds for ice cream, a diet Pepsi and Reese’s peanut butter cups, playing bingo or just listening to music. Her heart was full of love for not only those around her but for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved to collect sentimental what nots but especially those that replicated Jesus and the angels. The bountiful love she gave to all her family and friends will be cherished for eternity and beheld in their hearts until the time they all meet again.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown from 1-2 pm with a funeral service immediately following at 2 pm with the Reverend Joseph Dockery officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Wendy Dockery, 399 Old Highway 87, Dublin, NC 28332.
