Linda Marie Pait Hargrove, 85, of Bladenboro passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 17, 2025. She was born and raised in Bladen County on June 7, 1940, the daughter of the late Grover Pait and Ethel Marie Hester Pait. She was preceded by her siblings, James D. Pait, Freddie Pait, Jerry Pait, and Julia “Judy” Pait Walters.
Linda was the devoted wife of 66 years to James Derotha “J.D.” Hargrove of the home, loving mother to her children, Holly H. Norris (Paul) of White Lake, Michael Hargrove (Tena) of Atlanta, GA, and Anthony Hargrove (RuthAnn) of Stephen City, VA, adoring grandmother to Christopher Norris (Melissa), Mary Grace Norris Bruno (Nicholas), Craven “Crae” Norris, Drew Hargrove (Kiera), Josh Hargrove (Paiten), Tyler Hargrove (Carrie), Jordan Sosa (Jorge), Jarrett Hargrove, Dominic Lowman, and Zachary Lowman. She was the proud great grandmother to Giulianna Norris, Layla Hargrove, Emmy Hargrove, Maddux Hargrove, Christopher “Roadie” Hargrove, Ella Sosa, and Jorge “Anthony” Sosa and caring sister of Barbara P. Skipper of Bladenboro.
She spent a lifetime giving all her heart to the nurturing of her family and devotion to her Lord and Savior. As a lifelong member of Bladenboro First Baptist Church, she taught the children’s Sunday School Class and was a member of the Ann Miller Fisher Sunday School Class. Her mornings were not complete without that early morning cup of coffee and daily devotion. She enjoyed days with her husband J.D. working in her flowers, watching her favorite NC State Wolfpack win a game or a seasonal PGA tournament. The highlights of her summer were being poolside with the grandkids teaching them how to swim, days at the beach or White Lake reading a book under her umbrella and fishing for the “Big One”. The weekly outings with her sisters were always a great adventure. Linda’s life was filled with many blessings, laughter and love. Her compassionate heart, gentle smile, and warm hugs have left a legacy of memories that will be forever cherished by all.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Bladenboro with the Reverend Joey Cantrell officiating.
