Janice Griffin Wilson, 82, of Hallsboro, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 14, 2025. Born on June 25, 1943, Janice was the cherished daughter of the late Jessie Griffin and Rena Watson Griffin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gideon Harvey Wilson; her son, David Harold Wilson; her brother, Dalton Griffin; and her sisters: Mildred Barber, Esther Creech, and Allene Knowles.
A devoted mother, Janice exemplified the very essence of familial love, always demonstrating an unwavering commitment to doing anything for her family. She is remembered fondly by her son, Joel Wayne Wilson, and his wife Rhonna of Fayetteville; her daughter, Stephanie Joan Wilson of Hallsboro; and her grandchildren, Daulton Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Sarena Little (Zack), Justin Garrell (Savannah), Jonathan Wilson, and Sara Elizabeth Underwood (Kyle). Her legacy is further enriched by the joy she found in her great-grandchildren: Harvey Lee Little, Reba June Little, and Kennedy Grace Garrell.
Janice had a vibrant personality and a multitude of interests. She often filled her days with crafts and was known for her love of dressing up, complete with lipstick and shopping excursions. A woman of many talents, she played basketball during her youth and later drove a school bus, fostering connections with countless children. Her love of traveling took her to the beach and the mountains, where she relished the beauty of nature. A particular fondness for daffodils blossomed from sweet memories, as they were often brought to her by her son David during his visits. Janice also took joy in observing red birds, which reminded her that someone who had passed was visiting.
Janice's faith played a central role in her life. She was actively involved in the Vacation Bible School at Lake Waccamaw Baptist Church, where she creatively contributed to the craft sessions and used her voice to sing in the choir.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, November 17th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, November 18th in the Lisbon Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care given to Janice during her illness.
Janice leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and devotion, treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
