David Lindsey Wilson, a cherished soul known for his boundless love and infectious humor, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Knightdale, NC, at the age of 54. Born on October 1, 1971, in Raleigh, NC, David's life was a testament to the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of all who knew him.
David's early years were spent in the loving embrace of his family in Rolesville. He was a graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School where he played baseball and football for the Cougars. He then attended East Carolina University, where he forged lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for his future. David's career as a truck driver was marked by the same dedication and warmth he carried in all aspects of his life, making friends along the way and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Family was the cornerstone of David's world. He was predeceased by his brother Lonnie Thomas Wilson, IV, his father Lonnie Thomas Wilson, III, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. The legacy of his kind and generous spirit lives on through his beloved mother, Ann Chamblee Hellmuth, his devoted fiancée Jody Clark his adoring daughters, Kelly Dixon and her husband Travis, and Lindsey Wilson, his caring brother Tony Porter and his wife Amy, and his loving sisters Michelle Wester and her husband Bart, and Amber Thomas and her husband Wesley. David's joy was multiplied by the laughter of his grandchildren, Kacey, Colby, Dax, Laney, and Luke, who will forever cherish the memories of their playful grandfather. His special nephew Lonnie "L.T." Wilson, V, and his wife Taylor, along with many additional nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, will continue to feel David's presence in their hearts and the stories they share.
An eternal child at heart, David never lost his ability to make those around him laugh. His love for his children and grandchildren was unparalleled, especially when spending time with them on annual family beach trips. A true fan through and through, David's passion for the Washington Redskins, ECU Pirates, and UNC Tarheels basketball was a source of much joy and camaraderie.
David will be remembered as a loving, funny, and thoughtful man, whose presence was a gift to all. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life, to share a joke, and to spread happiness, defined his character and the indelible mark he left on this world.
His laughter may have fallen silent, but the echoes of his joy will resonate forever in the lives of those who were privileged to know him.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 12pm to 1pm at Bright Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1pm in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Beulah Christian Baptist Church Cemetery.
