Amy McGraw Shaw, 63, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Lifecare in Whiteville on Monday, November 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard E. McGraw and Delores “Beck” McGraw Winstead, husband Michael “Tank” Shaw, and siblings, Lynne Krashner and Richard “Ricky” E. McGraw Jr.
Amy, affectionately known to her grandkids as “Nina”, was a loving mother, grandmother and devoted friend. She enjoyed spending time with her boys, her grandchildren and her special group of friends. She was a hard-working lady who always kept busy with either her job or family events. She was happiest when she could get away to Ocean Isle Beach or the local nail salon. She also enjoyed cheering on her boys or grandchildren at the ball field, always with a Diet Coke in hand. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas when she would fill the house with the sights, sounds and sweet aromas of the holiday. Amy’s deep love and selfless giving will always hold a place in the hearts and minds of all that knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Michael “Bull” Shaw (Melinda) of Elizabethtown and Richard “Sling” Shaw (Blake) of White Lake, four grandchildren Harlie Shaw, Helen Shaw, Hunter Long, and Anna Grace Wilkins (Jonathan) and one great granddaughter, Lyla Wilkins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Elizabethtown Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 1-2:45 pm with a funeral service following at 3 pm in the church sanctuary. The Reverend Neil Smith and Reverend Max Tew will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the many family members and friends who have reached out in love whether it was a phone call, a meal prepared or simply by their presence during this difficult time. Your love and support will not soon be forgotten. Also, to the staff of Lower Cape Fear Lifecare and those who assisted with her care at home, your deep compassion and care for our dear Amy will always be greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Lower Lifecare Angel House of Whiteville, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
