Judy Ketchem Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch & Cornett Funeral Home – Linton Chapel on Jul. 25, 2025.
Judy Kay Ketchem, age 75, of Linton, left this world peacefully at 8:10 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025, with her family by her side, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. Born in Washington IN, on November 16, 1949, Judy was the beloved daughter of Perry L. and Elizabeth A. (Elsey) Ketchem.

From the beginning, Judy's loving and fiery spirit touched all who knew her. Judy built a career spanning several decades, including positions at Forbes Mortgage, H & R Block, and NSWC Crane - where she earned national recognition from President George H.W. Bush, a moment Judy took great pride in. She concluded her working years at Walmart, where she enjoyed daily conversations with customers and colleagues. In her younger years, Judy enjoyed gardening and she loved red roses and peonies. She loved just sitting outside soaking up the sun enjoying nature. One of her favorite things to do was have cookouts with family, and having burnt hot dogs made especially for her. Judy enjoyed long drives, with no particular destination in mind, she was happy as long as she was on the go. She also loved shopping and finding a good deal, and one of her favorite things to buy were movies. She had just about every movie or tv show you could imagine! Judy loved horses, and collected many horse and unicorn figurines.

Judy is lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl Bonham of Linton, Joanna Squire of Dugger, Stephanie Koonce of Lyons, and Glenn Orman, Jr. (Brandi) of Linton. Grandchildren left to cherish her memory are, Joshawa Collins, Terry Collins, Cory Collins, Heather Squire, Danielle Burdette, Kaylee Orman, Breanna Orman, and Ashlee Orman, and several great grandchildren. Judy also leaves behind her brother, Richard Ketchem (Sandy), and a circle of nieces, nephews, and dear friends whose lives she brightened with her laughter, and her no nonsense "tell it like it is" spicy personality. She was never one to be afraid to speak her mind.

Judy is now reunited with loved ones who went before her: her parents; her cherished son, Monte Alan "Peanut" Alumbaugh; beloved granddaughter, Ashley Dawn Squire; sisters, Norma Mattingly, Virginia McCool, and Berniece Browning; and brothers, Robert Ketchem and George Ketchem.

Though our hearts ache with her loss, Judy's spirit lives on in all the unforgettable memories we have. Her kindness, strength, and vibrant spirit will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Judy's extraordinary life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington, Indiana.

We were best friends in school. Lost touch for a few years while I was out of state. Saw her at Walmart and it was like time had turned still. Loved her beautiful smile which lit up those gorgeous blue eyes! She didn't have an easy life but never complained. I will miss her greatly! Rest in peace and enjoy Peanut! Love you!
