July 5, 1933 - July 27, 2024
Judy Magee Laird Rawls was at home as she was met by her Heavenly family on Saturday evening July 27, 2024 and she bid farewell to her Earthly family.
Ms. Judy was born Monday, July 5, 1933 in
Tylertown, MS to Hallie Reginald Magee and Evie Crowe Magee. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Dorroh Laird, and Winford Rawls.
Fresh out of high school her first job was as a bookkeeper with Mr. Jewel Simmons' motor company. In December 1951, she married her husband Dorroh and became the bookkeeper at Laird Motor Company for 46 years until its closure in 1996. They reared one daughter, and three grandsons in the Knoxo community, where she played the piano and organ in the Knoxo Baptist Church. While Dorroh was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, in 1961, she was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star, Tylertown Chapter no. 165. As her grandsons grew old enough to hold a baseball bat Ms Judy took care of the books for the Little League and Dixie Youth for many years. As an ambassador for Laird Motor Company, she and Brenda traveled to various Nissan events including but not limited to the Nissan plant in Tennessee, Hawaii and California.
After Dorroh's death she became a member of the Tylertown Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and Wednesday afternoon activities. Years later she married Winford Rawls, and they attended the Tylertown Methodist Church until his death. Winford and Judy enjoyed traveling with several cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and visiting his family in the mountains of North Carolina. Ms. Judy returned to the workforce and enjoyed what she enjoyed best - working with the public. For 16 years she worked with a fine group of people with the local Livestock Producers.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Laird Ingram, three grandsons, Chris Laird, Jim Ingram (Lisa) and Nicolas Ingram; and two great grandchildren, AvaLeigh and A J Ingram. She leaves behind cousins Jean Richmond Hinman and Steve Magee (Alee) and Jeanne Burris and Dennis Crowe (JoAnn; and two brothers and sisters in law, Dr. Dorman & Henrietta Laird, and Duel & Alma Laird, plus a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-grand nieces and nephews, and friends.
