Judy A. Ray

Judy A. Ray, 81, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Judith Ann Ray (née Delmont) was born on April 6, 1944, in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Jack and Mary (Tackitt) Delmont. Judy grew up in Galena, Kansas where she later graduated high school. Shortly after, she was united in marriage to Thomas Ray on September 29, 1962, in Oroville, California. Together, they were blessed with four children: Michelle, Marc, Toni, and Mable. Judy and Tom lived in California for ten years before moving to Sullivan, Missouri, in 1972, where they made their permanent home and raised their family.
Judy dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Crawford County R-I School District, working first at the middle school and later at the high school. She took great pride in her work and genuinely cared for the students and staff she worked alongside. Known for her kindness, patience, and steady presence, Judy left a lasting impression on countless students over the years.
Outside of her career, Judy was a talented quilter who found joy in creating handmade pieces for family and friends. She also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time outdoors, but most of all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas Ray of Sullivan, Missouri; four children: Michelle Ray, Marc Ray and wife Julie, Toni Earl and husband Nick, and Mable Paquin and husband Jeff; grandchildren: Thomas, Amanda, Chase, Erin, and Brittany; her brother, Jack Delmont and wife Jerry; along with other relatives, many family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A private ceremony will be held by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Judy's name.
