Jules Ellis Dore

LT. COL. J. ELLIS "JED" DORE' (RET.) An officer and a gentleman, Jed passed away August 29, 2013 at the St. Joseph Carpenter House after a 5 year battle with cancer. The nurses called him "Happy Jack" because he was always smiling. He kept his sense of humor until the very end and was such a blessing to all those who cared for him. He was a real estate broker, property manager and developer and assisted in the development of many projects including Village Woods, the first retirement community in Baton Rouge. He served 30 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard Reserve and retired as a Lt. Col. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susie Bean Dore', former wife and mother of his children, Anne Garland Dore', son, Robert P. Dore' and wife Tracy of Smyrna, TN, daughter, Patricia D. Austin and husband Jeff of Jupiter, FL, son David P. Dore of Hong Kong, China, three grandchildren, Annie and Jack Ellis Austin and Keegan Dore'. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 10:00-12:00 at St. George Catholic Church followed by funeral mass at noon and burial in the church cemetery. Presiding will by Father Reynolds Garland, brother of Anne Dore' and Father Mike Schatzle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joseph Carpenter House, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
