Jules Josaphat Obituary The Funeral Biography of Jules Josaphat
English Version
The concept of life, taken in its general sense, eludes an exact definition. This term, which carries elusive complexities, does not allow itself to be locked into a fixed definition. However, scientists, particularly biologists, have set out to define life through different stages, including birth, respiration, nutrition, growth, reproduction, and death.
From this theory, unanimity emerges as to the reality that every beginning is destined for an end; to be more precise, there is a time to start and a time to finish. The words of Psalm 90, verse six, evoke this ephemerality: man's life is like grass, blooming in the morning and withering in the evening.
This is how we recall the memory of our beloved Jules Josaphat, nicknamed "Ton N." The son of Fadius and Mia Joseph, he was born in the commune of Bas-Limb, in the Northern Department of Haiti, on February 15, 1940. He died after a long illness on December 17, 2023, at the age of 83. He lived a decade in Nassau, Bahamas, from 1970 to 1979, and then another decade in Miami, Florida, from 1979 to 1989.
From 1989 until the day he left for Orlando, Florida, where he lived out his last days, Jules Josaphat left a lasting mark. Married to Mrs. Therese Josaphat on October 17, 1974, in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, their union gave birth to three children: Smith, Rhode, Calvin, and one daughter in-law Athana, two grandchildren, Keytana and Ayana, further enriched the family.
His professional career has been marked by his role as a teacher at the Adventist School of Sevelinge, a rural section of Bas-Limb. He served as the assistant director of lay activities at Zion Adventist Church. The first elder and emeritus member of the Youth Society at the Church of Jerusalem in Miami, Florida. He also served as a member of the treasury for a period of time at Berachah II in Orlando.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jules Josaphat was a responsible father, a man of integrity, exceptional generosity, and a wise advisor. His love and fear of God were palpable, fueled by his passion for reading the Bible and the Great Controversy. He
prayed assiduously for the sick and those in need, truly embodying the figure of a man of faith.
Thus, may his soul rest in peace in the eternal abode of his Master. The light of his legacy will continue to shine in our memories, and his benevolent influence will live on for generations to come.
