Jules Arthur Peebles

Jules Arthur Peebles, age 96, of Camden, NC, died at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born in New York City, NY, on March 28, 1929, to the late Arthur J. Peebles and Ruth Gains Peebles, he was the widower of Winifred Bruce Peebles.

For the majority of his years, Jules served with honor and distinction in all branches of the United States military, including several years working with NASA. He would later serve within the hospitality industry, where his commitment to excellence and attention to detail left a lasting impression on those with whom he worked.

On July 19, 1986, Jules was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He served faithfully in the congregation for the rest of his life. Jules was appointed as an elder in the congregation, and he was a fixture at weekly meetings. He especially enjoyed commenting at meetings, and his remarks brought joy and encouragement to all in attendance.

Jules was well known for being loving and generous. He was very hospitable to his family and friends. He loved to tell stories from his many life experiences. Everyone enjoyed his stories and his witty and articulate nature. Jules was truly a classic gentleman who loved old films, wine, and fine arts.

More than anything, Jules loved his late wife and family. He is survived by a daughter, Diane G. Gauker (Craig) of Camden, NC; a son, Douglas A. Peebles of Suffolk, VA; four grandchildren, Christopher Daniel Gauker, Nicholas Eric Gauker, Emma J. Peebles, and Cody Scott Peebles; and one great-grandchild, Temesgen Christopher Daniel Gauker. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, David S. Peebles. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.

A service is planned at a later date.
