Julia Christopher Obituary
Mrs. Julia Christopher, 91, passed from this life September 27, 2025, at IU Health Methodist hospital. Born on April 6, 1934, in Spaniard's Bay, Newfoundland, Canada, Julia was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Mary Roberts Seymour. Her roots in Spaniard's Bay held a special place in her heart throughout her life. On Valentine's Day in 1956, Julia's heart became forever intertwined with her soulmate, Albert W. "Bert" Christopher. Their marriage was blessed for 65 years until Bert's passing on July 14, 2021.
Julia's legacy continues through her devoted children; Cynthia (David) Brown of Yuma, Arizona, Al (Pam) Christopher of Remington, Indiana, Cheryl Christopher of Columbus, Indiana and Carl (Zonie) Christopher of Indianapolis; her grandchildren, Shane Hardin, Stephen Christopher, Becca Christopher, Ashley (Eli) Parks-Murphy, Cassie (Spencer) Hamm, Briana Henry, Sarah (Chris Dudley) Hundley, Brooklyn Childers and Addison Hundley; great-grandchildren, Ryana Hardin, Zayne Parks, Mason Henry, Layla Dewitt, Zalen Vera, Drace Vera, Tayla Murphy, Jude Murphy, Alexander Hamm, Sloane Hamm, Carter Hundley; brother, Arthur (Yvonne) Seymour; and several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Robert Seymour, Gertrude Woods, Joyce Samuelson, and Stephen Seymour.
Julia received her teaching license from St. Mary's University in St. John's. Mrs. Christopher (Mrs. C) dedicated three decades to enlightening young minds, retiring from B.C.S.C., Lincoln. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she remained an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church after moving to the United States in 1962. Julia's service to her community extended beyond the church walls, as she enjoyed volunteering at Columbus Regional Hospital for over 20 years.
Exploring the world and its cultures with late husband Bert, brought great joy to Julia, with London holding the crown as her favored destination. Water aerobics kept her vibrant, while reading, journaling, sudoku and writing poetry reflected her creativity. Yet, nothing could surpass the time she spent encircled by her family, whose love she considered her life's greatest treasure.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Reverend Brother Aelred Dean officiating.
Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington St.
