Julia "Julie" Diane McCausey was born May 12, 1960 in
Norfolk, Virginia. She attended Maury High School. She loved living near the beach in Ocean View. Growing up with all brothers, Julie described herself as a rough and tumble tomboy that could hang with the boys. Julie was an outgoing, social butterfly, who never met a stranger. She made friends everywhere she went and was the most loyal and dependable friend that anyone could ask for.
After high school, Julie married her first husband, Rick, and quickly welcomed her first daughter, Christina. She briefly lived in Wales during her time as a young military wife. This sparked her admiration for Princess Diana, love for all things British and countless memories she would treasure for the rest of her life.
Julie eventually moved back to the US. After spending some time in Texas, she returned to her hometown of Norfolk where she married Bernie and had two more children, Donny and Natalie. She worked numerous jobs to make ends meet, such as working in machine shops and truck driving. Ever the loving and caring soul, Julie eventually used her nurturing nature to become a caregiver for the elderly. She was very connected to the elderly people that she cared for. She valued their wisdom and stories, became like family to their families, and provided them love and support in their final days.
Julie devoted her recent years to being a beloved babysitter for her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She adored her beautiful granddaughters; Selena and Skylar and reveled in being a grandma to her only grandson, Nixon. She was always there for her children and rarely went a day without calling them. Julie was also very connected to her friends from trauma support group as they leaned on each other while navigating the peaks and valleys of their past and present lives. She had friends all over Norfolk and couldn't go to a 711 or Wawa without it being a social event.
Julie will be dearly missed and eternally loved by all of her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 6:30pm at Mission Church 210 S. Witchduck Rd Va Beach, VA 23462.
