Julia Rosa Gomez, a beloved member of her family and community, was born on January 13, 1945, in Mora, New Mexico. She passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins, Wyoming. Julia’s life was marked by her unwavering spirit, her dedication to her family, and her lively personality, making her a cherished figure among her loved ones and friends.

Julia had a diverse career, spending many years as a bartender and a clerk at Ideal Foods Liquor. She also worked as a part-time secretary for A & D Dozer, where she made lasting connections with her colleagues. Known for her entrepreneurial spirit, Julia even sold breakfast burritos and delighted in the joys of knitting, selling her creations to share warmth and comfort with others. However, her favorite role was that of a grandmother, as she found immense joy in caring for her grandbabies. She was also a big Dallas Cowboys and Texas Long Horns fan.

She attended Pershing Elementary School and began her journey at Rawlins Middle School but chose to pursue other paths, leaving high school in the 11th grade. Despite this, Julia was a source of encouragement for many and instilled the importance of education in her family, especially urging her goddaughter, Amber Espinoza, to continue her studies and graduate as a nurse.

Julia's personality was the embodiment of feistiness and love; she was known for speaking her mind, a trait that endeared her to all who knew her. Her hobbies included shopping, where she enjoyed collecting purses, shoes, and clothes, as well as playing bingo and visiting casinos with her sisters. Family gatherings were often filled with memories of her special baked pumpkin cake and the unique holiday baskets she crafted for her sons when they were children.

Julia is survived by her son, Maximino F. Gomez III, and his wife, Berna; grandchildren, Maximino F. Gomez IV and his fiancée, Melissa Walden, who blessed her with great grandson Kuruk Walden-Gomez, Demetrius M. Gomez and his fiancée, Alanis Suazo, as well as Leonidas M. Gomez. She is also survived by her daughter, Michele Herrera, and grandson Leonardo Herrera, along with great grandchildren Andreya, Ely, Yasmin Herrera, Birdie Gardea, and great great grandbaby Estelle Herrera. Her loving granddaughter, Cherrelle Gomez, and husband Miguel Gonzalez brought her great grandchildren Angel, Neavah, Noah, Davian Gonzalez, and great great grandson Ziahra Gonzalez. Additionally, her granddaughter, Naliza Gomez-Mengesha, and husband Hann, shared with her grandchildren Kaylin Gomez and Zayleigh Mengesha. Julia’s granddaughter, Shayad Gomez, also brought her much joy through her great grandchildren Elias Stoker and Katara Williams. Her grandson, Louis Chavez, cherished his great grandchildren Zayana and Zayden Chavez. Julia is further survived by her brothers Gilbert and Fredie Sisneros of Rawlins, her sister Gerri Sisneros Espinoza and Louis of Rawlins, her sister Lela Sisneros Rivale and Don of Cheyenne, along with many nieces and nephews who held her dear.

Julia was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Maximino F. Gomez, Jr.; her beloved parents Quininita and Domingo Gomez; and her siblings: Charlene, Tina, Patsy, Dean, Eddie, Leo, and Maggie.

Her legacy of love and encouragement will remain with her family and friends forever. The Rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rawlins, Wyoming, on August 8, 2025, at 7:00 PM, followed by Mass on August 9, 2025, at 9:00 AM. Julia Rosa Gomez will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she has touched throughout her life.
