Julia E. Hulchanski

Julia E. Hulchanski, 95, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at St. Camillus Nursing Home, on Tuesday, May 20. Julia was the proud daughter of Frank and Mary (Fatcheric) Buranich. She grew up in Warners and graduated from Warners High School in 1947 and was the Salutatorian of her class. Julia met the love of her life Stephen Hulchanski at a church picnic, they were married September 18, 1948 and were happily married for 58 years. Julia worked at Onondaga Community College and then at the Regional Planning Board.
Julia went on to start her own floral and design business in the early 80's, known as Julie's Flowers providing exquisite floral pieces for thousands of proms, weddings, restaurants, and events. She was known for designing the interiors for both Galveston and Fresno's restaurants. She closed Julies Flowers at 81 years old.
She was a member of St. Johns Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ukrainian Girls Auxiliary, Camillus Chamber of Commerce, and a Camillus Octagon House Volunteer. Julia won the Camillus Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year Award in 2012.
Julia enjoyed baking Easter Paskas and decorating Ukrainian pysanky eggs and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. .
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Stephen Hulchanski Jr., her son Stephen Thomas, great-grand daughter Hannah Grace Kompf, two brothers Samuel (Gloria) Buranich, Peter (Shirley) Buranich.
Survived by a son Donald (Theresa) Hulchanski, daughter Joyce (Rich) Reppert of Texas, three Grandchildren, Adrianne (Ben) Kompf, Allison Hulchanski, Donald Jr. (Devon Cromp) Hulchanski, three Great Grandchildren, Robbie and Emma Kompf, and Levi Hulchanski and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 1 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, Camillus, NY 13209. A Panakhyda Service at 5:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held June 2, at 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, 110 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, NY 13219. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Salisbury Road, Syracuse, 13219.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Food Pantry, 110 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, NY 13219, or to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.
