Julia Long Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Byrum Funeral Home Inc. on Jan. 31, 2026.
Julia "Julie" Ann Pulaski Long, aka "Grammy", was born in Tampico, Mexico on June 19, 1932, to Gilbert Rosseau Pulaski and Ursula (Hernandez) Pulaski with two older siblings, Aurora and Gilberto. She passed from this life surrounded by loving family on January 26, 2026.

Julie moved to Oak Cliff with her grandmother at the age of 9. She attended Adamson High School and was on the pep squad. She married her first husband, William Lee, in 1948 and had three children. They lived in Nashville, Tennessee where she was very well known for her enchiladas. It was not unusual for recording artists of the day to drop by the house when she made them. Years later when she married her second husband Austin Long, they moved around for work from Tennessee to Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, Missouri and then finally back to Dallas where she grew up. She was an accountant for various companies, including Braniff Airlines and lastly the roofing company with her daughter and son in law before retiring. Her favorite job, though, was working for chuckles and was always happy if she could get a good laugh out of someone. She spent her later years living with her daughter's family in Lancaster where she enjoyed lots of good company but enjoyed it more when that company wanted to play poker, especially when she won. She loved to cook (but later loved more telling others how to cook) and loved a great meal, her favorites being steak or seafood and the more than occasional, and preferably more than one, "martooni".

She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin; parents, Gilbert and Ursula; siblings, Aurora and Gilberto; son, John William Lee; bonus daughter, Monica Provenzano; daughter in law, Victoria Lee; son in law, Jack Needham, Sr; her grandsons, Robert Puzzo and John Lee, Jr; her granddaughter, Christi Long; and her great-granddaughter, Jordan Watkins.

Julie is survived by daughter, Sophia Kay Needham; son, Kenneth Dale Lee; bonus son, Brad Long; bonus son in law, Vincent Provenzano; her grandchildren, Julie K. Needham, Jack Needham Jr and wife Amanda, Jessica Rivera and husband Jesse, Cassie Lee, Sean Christopher Lee, Kaitlan Lee, Briana Lamberson and husband Adam, Justin Long, Bryan Provenzano, and Matthew Provenzano; her great-grandchildren, Alexandrea, Andrew and wife Savannah, Jack III, Dylan, Libby, Isabelle, Jacob, Arysa, Lilyana, Isabella (Bella Bella), Serenity, Natalya, Sebastian, John, Elijah and Logan; her great-great-grandchildren, Brandyn and Amelia; and a large group of folks that just became family. She was loved by them all.

A celebration of Julie's life will be at graveside at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster.
