Julia Mae Grogan Richardson, age 81, died at Thibodaux General Hospital in Thibodaux, LA surrounded by family on April 17, 2022.
Julia Mae (as we have all come to call her) was born July 24, 1940 in Patterson, LA to Lazarus Grogan, Sr. and Julia Ott Grogan. She spent her childhood in Patterson, LA where she also attended Patterson High School. As a teenager, she met and later married the love of her life, Herman Richardson. Together, they had five children.
From early on in her life until her passing, Julia Mae was both a smart and hard working woman. She was also a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. As a Stay-at-Home Mom, she continuously mastered the evolving roles of raising five children and managing all the household affairs.
Our beautiful mother with her immense love of hats spent her days cooking and gardening. With the greenest thumb, there was nothing she could not plant and have it grow. Spoiling her family and sharing the good news of Jehovah's Kingdom with others, Julia Mae was known far and wide by many people. Everyone who knew her grew to love her. She left her imprint on this world and on everyone's hearts. She will be remembered as "Mom" to many others and to those that love her dearly.
Everyone who met Julia Mae fell in love with her beauty, heart, and character. If you knew her, you loved her.
Julia Mae is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 66 years, Herman Richardson, Sr. of Gray, LA; son, Tyrone (Trelle) Richardson of Houma, LA; daughters, Terry Richardson of Gray, LA, Debbie Richardson of Atlanta, GA, and Sophia (Edward) Anderson of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, LaStarya Tucker, Tyroneka Richardson, Tyrone "TJ" Richardson, Jr., Gabrielle Anderson, and China Anderson; great-grandchild, Tyrone Anthony "Three" Richardson, III; brothers, Peter (Rose) Grogan of Morgan City, LA, Andrew Grogan of Patterson, LA, and Mario (Jessie Paul) Grogan of Patterson, LA; sisters, Mary Ann Grogan of Patterson, LA, Mercy Grogan Henley of Patterson, LA, and Priscilla (Kenneth) Grogan Smith of Patterson, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Julia Mae was preceded in death by her son, Herman "Boo" Richardson, Jr.; parents, Lazarus Grogan, Sr. of Patterson, LA and Julia Ott Grogan of New Orleans, LA; brothers, Beauregard Grogan, Lazarus Grogan, Jr., and Steven Rena Grogan, all of Patterson, LA; and sisters, Ethel Faith Grogan and Alice Grogan Butler, all of Patterson, LA.
